2nd Annual Great East Dartmouth BBQ This Saturday

(Thursday, August 10/06)-- The 2nd annual Great East Dartmouth BBQ will be held this Saturday at Beazley Field from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This community event is hosted by Councillor Andrew Younger and the Boys and Girls Club of East Dartmouth. Additional financial support is provided by the Dartmouth Community Health Board.

The Dartmouth Kiwanis provide their services as chefs for the event and other service groups will be assisting to provide information about the new community centre, currently scheduled to begin construction this fall.

“I am excited that this event has grown so much in just one year and is now an event in which many service groups have become involved ” says Councillor Andrew Younger. “This is an important social event that brings together the broader community for a day of fun and relaxation.”

The BBQ includes free hot dogs and water (while supplies last), as well as free events and games. This year’s event include entertainment by District 6 band “The Stray Dogs”; bounce castles; water games; track events; crafts and face painting.

Also, the event will be visited by a fire truck from Station 14 of the Halifax Regional Fire Department, as well as HRM’s new police horse “Sarge” and the police K-9 unit.

The event-- to be held rain or shine-- is sure to be a fun time for all ages and everyone is welcome.
