Halifax Regional Firefighters place 4th at Nationals in

Niagara Falls Firefighter Combat Challenge

(Tuesday, September 19, 2006) - Halifax Regional Firefighters placed 4th at the National Combat Firefighter Challenge competition this weekend in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Over 100 teams competed in the challenge and Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency were in the top 5. They now qualify to go to the Worlds in Henderson, Nevada in November.

The Firefighter Combat Challenge is a competition based on fire fighting tasks commonly performed in emergency situations. The Challenge is very demanding and many participants perform at the level of elite athletes.

Firefighters call it the toughest two minutes in sports.

The firefighters compete in several categories, including best team, best individual, best female, and tag team relay.
