Streets bounding North Common closed to vehicle traffic, Sept. 23rd

(Friday, September 22, 2006) - Immediately adjacent to the North Common, Cunard Street, North Park Street, Cogswell Street and Robie Street will be closed to vehicle traffic on both sides of their medians from Saturday, September 23 at 12:01 a.m. to Saturday, September 23 at midnight, unless there are unforeseen operational delays. (Emergency vehicle access only will be allowed.)

There will be one barricaded lane with signage created in the north lane of Cunard Street at Cunard and Princess Place and Cunard at June Street to send all local traffic east to Moran Street for exit. Local traffic access will be controlled by police. No parking on Saturday will be in effect on Moran Street and Sarah Street from Moran to Agricola Street.

Rainnie Drive from Gottingen Street to Ahern Avenue will also be closed to vehicle traffic. Barricades will be erected to block off west-bound traffic off Gottingen Street, and signs will direct vehicles headed west on Rainnie northwards on Gottingen instead. Barricades on Ahern Avenue at Rainnie Drive will direct vehicles east on Cogswell Street.

Robie Street north-bound traffic immediately south of Quinpool will be limited to only one left and one right turn lane. Robie Street south-bound traffic from West Street to Cunard Street will be limited to one lane, as will Cunard Street east-bound traffic from Hunter to Robie (to assist with traffic control at these major intersections during the street closures. These lane restrictions will be removed once the closures are ended).

There will be local traffic only signs and barricades (NOT a full vehicle closure) on Parker Street, Compton, Williams and Welsford Streets.
