HRM and Trees Canada to Mark Maple Leaf Day

(Tuesday, September 26, 2006) - Halifax Regional Municipality is partnering with Trees Canada to mark Canada’s first official Maple Leaf Day on Wednesday, September 27th.

District 12 Councillor Dawn Sloane will assist Trees Canada with the planting of a maple tree on the North Common at 11:30 a.m.

Maple Leaf Day is intended to raise awareness of the impact of pollution from various sources and to trumpet the role citizens can play in using trees as an environmental counter force.
