HRM Asks for Public Input on Bedford Highway Corridor Study

(Tuesday, October 24/06)--Councillor Debbie Hum today reminded District 16 residents about a planning workshop being held tomorrow evening. It’s an opportunity for residents to provide their thoughts, ideas and comments to consultants undertaking a land-use planning study of the western shores of Bedford Basin

Several months ago, HRM commissioned the study of the lands around the Bedford Highway corridor, between Hogan's Point and the Bedford waterfront. O'Halloran Campbell Consultants Limited, together with Harrison Associates, Ekistics Planning Design and Jacques Whitford Environmental, were retained for this study.

In general terms, the study will describe the extent to which development should be contemplated, its type, location and design considerations, including water lots.

Councillor Hum said “An important component, of course, includes ongoing consultations with all relevant parties; including property owners, stakeholder groups, relevant government agencies and the general public.”

When: Wednesday, October 25, 2006

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Where: Birch Cove Baptist Church Hall, 10 Donaldson Avenue.
