Martin Organizing Meetings for a Safer Bedford
(Friday, November 17/06)-- Councillor Gary Martin has scheduled the first of what will be a series of public meetings to mobilize Bedford residents to collectively work together to fight crime and make their community a safer place.
Councillor Martin says the target area for the first meeting to be held next week is neighbourhoods bounded by the south side of the Dartmouth Road and Shore Drive, between the Chickenburger restaurant and Eaglewood. One of the major topics of the first meeting next week will be the formation of a Residents Association for the Bedford area.
“Like most other communities, Bedford residents are concerned about increasing crime,
youth issues, speeding and reckless driving and the overall safety of their community,” he said. “I hope these meetings will give our residents the opportunity to express their concerns to me, HRM police and staff, as well as give us their thoughts, ideas and suggestions about how we, working together, can make our community a safer place to live.”
