After the Holidays - What Goes Where??

Here are tips issued by HRM Solid Waste Resources Dept for recycling and composting

- Natural Christmas trees picked up on green cart week. The tree must not include a bag, no ornaments or other noncompostable materials
-Wreaths with metal wire frame or plastic cord go in your garbage
-Recycle paper gift wrap, place in grocery bag with papers, (remember--- no ribbons, bows and foil paper is not recyclable)
- Boxboard (boxes used to package your gifts the same type as cereal boxes) are compostable and go in with your food waste in your green cart
-Corrugated cardboard (boxes used to package your new TV or other large appliances) , tie and bundle for recycling

For more information on what goes where or how to compost or recycling, call HRM at 490-4000 or visit our website at www.halifax.ca/wrms.
