NO Parking of Vehicles on Streets & Roads in HRM

(Monday, January 15, 2007) - In light of the snowfall forecast for today and overnight, HRM reminds motorists not to park their vehicles on streets and roads throughout H-R-M.

Section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act provides that parked vehicles obstructing snow removal or winter maintenance operations may be ticketed/towed at the owner’s expense, regardless of time or date.

Although the Winter Overnight Parking Ban is not in effect in the Urban Core Area so far this winter, the provincial Ban is in effect in areas outside the core. As a result, no vehicles shall be parked between the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on streets located in the former County of Halifax that are maintained by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works.
