HRM Seeks Public Input Regarding Off-Leash Strategy

(Thursday, January 18, 2007) - Halifax Regional Municipality will hold a series of workshops to encourage public input into its draft Off Leash Park Strategy.

The strategy outlines what ideas and issues are at hand for developing an Off Leash Parks Strategy for parks throughout HRM and, in particular, the process to designate special areas for dogs to run off-leash. Key principles of the strategy are accessibility, affordability, balance, cleanliness, environmental/cultural sustainability and natural beauty.

Public consultations will begin January 27th and run until February 4th (see schedule below). Residents, park users and dog owners are invited to attend.

For more information, visit http://www.halifax.ca/RealPropertyPlanning/OLPS/index.html To register for a workshop e-mail parkdog@halifax.ca or call 490-2367.
