“Party Day” at Outdoor Community Rink

(Friday, February 9/07)-- Saturday is “party day” for the official opening this season of the District 12 community rink at Uniacke Square.

Councillor Dawn Sloane issued an invitation today for local residents to come along, bring their skates and enjoy themselves on the outdoor rink in front of the George Dixon Centre.

“This is going to another great community event and HRM's George Dixon Centre, the Pep Bro Divas, and the 615 Air Cadet Squadron will be there to celebrate our second year of community partnership with the rink,” she said.

Captain Doug Kierstead, of the 615 (Bluenose) Air Cadet Squadron, said "We are delighted to have continued our partnership with the community to make the outdoor rink a reality. The rink is fun for all ages and our cadets are enthusiastic about this weekend's official opening. We look forward to continued involvement in this most important community initiative for years to come."

Note: There are skates available in various sizes, but organizers are accepting donations of used skates, especially in sizes 7,8,9,10 for both girls and boys. Thanks.
