HRM Planning Burnside Connections to Dartmouth Crossing

(Wednesday, February 14/07)-- The growth of Burnside and City of Lakes Business Parks in the last two years has surged to its highest level since the late 1980s, in terms of acreage developed and sold.

This market situation, combined with the opening of the Dartmouth Crossing retail centre, require that construction work on the connections of Commodore Drive and Wright Avenue will begin this year.

Dartmouth Crossing is currently serviced with two entrances off Highway 118, at Commodore Drive and Wright Avenue. The primary interchange was cost-shared between the Province, HRM and developers of Dartmouth Crossing . This infrastructure was sized to support the developer's immediate retail phase, and the connections to Burnside and City of Lakes parks at a future date.

The engineering and design work has been substantially completed by staff and the initial contract tenders are expect be released in early March. The tender award remains subject to approval by Halifax Regional Council.
