Councillor Applauds Efforts of Mulgrave Park Group
(Thursday, February 22/07)-- Councillor Patrick Murphy today extended congratulations to the Mulgrave Park Tenant’s Association on receiving national recognition recently for its efforts to beautify its community.
Councillor Murphy said the Communities in Bloom(CIB)/WinterLights organization has recognized the "Exemplary Work of the Mulgrave Park Tenants Association" and the group will soon be presented with a special plaque to hang in its Resource Centre.
The Councillor said the judges wrote "They are certainly a group that goes that extra mile to ensure all residents are provided with a better quality of life"
“I want to extend my congratulations to this group for their ongoing work in the community. Through their efforts, they are making their north end community a better place to live, work, learn and play,” he said.
In addition, HRM also received an evaluation score of 85%--- which translates to a Five Star rating for our community--- at the recent WinterLights National Awards Ceremony in Ottawa. Although the winner in this category was City of Niagara Falls, HRM met its goal of increasing its rating from four to five stars.
Councillor Murphy said “This recognition not only speaks to an individual group, but to the overall achievements of goodwill programs throughout HRM. It is so important that we recognize the good works of the community. Congratulations to our CIB/WinterLights team and HRM staff for a job well done.”
