Eastern Shore Joint Emergency Management Hosts Awareness Event

(Wednesday, May 2/07)-- The Eastern Shore Joint Emergency Management Team (ES JEM), will be conducting a public awareness jamboree regarding emergency preparedness this Saturday at Porters Lake.

The organization, which is a community-based emergency preparedness and response group under HRM’s Emergency Measures Organization, serves the Eastern Shore on a voluntary basis.

The event this Saturday is to help promote Emergency Preparedness Week, being held this year from May 6 - 12, and to familiarize the local community with emergency response agencies and the ESJEM.

Other agencies, such as the Red Cross, EHS, HRM Fire, RCMP, Ground Search and Rescue and
Transport Canada, will have emergency response vehicles on site and will be handing out their promotional materials about what residents should know about emergency preparedness.

When:   Saturday, May 5th, 2007

Time:     10:30 am to 1 pm

Where:   Superstore Parking Lot, Porters Lake
