Citizens Urged to Participate in Survey on Violence
(Friday, May 11/07)-- Halifax Regional Municipality wants to hear the views of residents on violent crime, real or perceived, in their community.
Many residents will be contacted by telephone beginning next week, and will be asked to participate in a 20-minute survey. Those participating will not be asked to reveal any identifying or personal financial information.
In addition, copies of the survey will be mailed out to a number of households throughout the municipality during the month of May.
The results of the survey will be presented during the Mayor’s Roundtable on Violence in HRM later this summer and will be a key factor when the Roundtable recommendations are made in the Fall of 2007.
Mayor Peter Kelly said “I encourage residents to participate in this survey and share their views and experiences with us. Together, we can all contribute to the health and safety of our communities.”
