HRM to Hold Public Workshops to Discuss Municipal Tax Reform

(Wednesday, May 16, 2007) -- Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) will be hosting a series of public workshops throughout HRM to review the municipal taxation system.

In the workshops, participants will work through various scenarios to determine the best methods for dealing with issues surrounding a municipal tax system. Ideas gathered at the workshops will be used to propose options for rebuilding HRM’s municipal tax system. Public input is an essential part of the process.

Residents are asked to register for a workshop by calling 490-4886 or e-mail taxreform@halifax.ca

The workshops will be held at the following locations and times:

Wednesday, May 23rd in Halifax
St. James Anglican Church Hall

7:00 - 9:00 PM

Thursday, May 24th in Sheet Harbour
Lions Centre

7:00 - 9:00 PM

Monday, May 28th in Cole Harbour
51 Forest Hills Parkway

Wednesday, May 30th in Hammonds Plains
Firefighters Community Hall
