Mayor Kelly Invites Public to Halifax Grand Parade in Support of Canadian Forces

(Wednesday, May 30/07)-- On Canadian Forces Day (June 3), citizens across Canada honour the contributions and sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform.

With the largest Canadian Forces Base located here in Halifax Regional Municipality, Mayor Peter Kelly, on behalf of Regional Council, invites all HRM citizens to the Grand Parade this Friday morning to recognize and appreciate our Canadian Forces.

WHAT:   Celebration of Canadian Forces
              Colours ceremony and Proclamation in support of the Canadian Forces

WHEN:   Friday, June 1
              9:00 AM - public asked to gather at 8:45 AM

WHERE:  Halifax Grand Parade
               (In front of City Hall between Argyle and Barrington Streets)

WHO:      Mayor Kelly and Regional Council
               Brigadier-General R.G. Parsons, OMM, CD
               Stadacona Band
               Veterans of the Afghanistan mission
               Colour Party
               Artillery salute from Citadel Hill
               HRM citizens

Please take a few moments from your busy day to join us as we show our appreciation for the men and women who dedicate their lives to our country.
