HRM Kicks Off Environment Week
(Thursday, May 31/07) - Ever wonder what happens to your garbage after it’s hauled away? Leftover oils, solvents, batteries just sitting in your garage? Now’s your chance to learn more about your environment, by participating in Environment Week with HRM.
HRM is celebrating Environment Week from June 3 - 9 and encourages everyone to get involved.
On Saturday, June 2, HRM is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) mobile depot at the Mic Mac Lower Parking Lot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine. This event receives residential household hazardous waste. Business waste is not accepted. The HRM also operates a permanent depot location at 50 Chain Lake Drive in Bayers Lake and will be also be open for regular operating hours from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The following Saturday, June 9th, HRM will host a tour of the Otter Lake Waste Processing and Disposal Facility. Residents will have the opportunity to view HRM’s state-of-the art waste processing and disposal facility to find out what really happens to your garbage. To participate in the free tour with bus shuttle service, residents are required to register by calling 490-7153. Registration will be accepted up to and including June 7.
