Hum Says Improvements Will Make Intersection Less Congested, Safer

(Wednesday, June 6/07)-- Councillor Debbie Hum today welcomed an announcement by the provincial government that traffic signals will be installed and other improvements will be made at the intersection of Kearney Lake Road and the northbound ramp off Highway #102.

"This is definitely good news for area residents and all motorists using this exit. It’s a very busy intersection now and these improvements will make travel safer," Councillor Hum said. " I brought forward traffic and safety concerns and need for ramp/intersection improvements over a year ago to HRM, and Provincial officials through former MLA Peter Christie and most recently MLA Len Goucher. I am very pleased this road improvement project is moving forward for tender, with work to be done this construction season."

Hum also said "traffic signalization and ramp improvements will reduce traffic congestion and wait times for motorists exiting the ramp on to Kearney Lake Road. It will make this intersection that much safer for motorists making left or right turns as well as those motorists who are travelling southbound or northbound along Kearney Lake Road".
