Major Improvements Set for Windsor Street/Kempt Road Intersection

(Thursday, June 14/07)-- Construction is scheduled to begin next week on major traffic improvements to the intersection of Windsor Street and Kempt Road in Halifax.

As a result, motorists are advised there may be traffic delays throughout the summer months until construction is completed in early September.

During the peak traffic hours of 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, all traffic lanes will be open. Outside of the peak hours, there will be lane closures to accommodate construction with a minimum of one- lane traffic being maintained in each direction.

The improvements include:

• construction of an additional left- turn lane from Windsor Street to Kempt Road
• an additional thru- lane westbound on Kempt Road
• realignment of Bayne Street
• relocation of the access road from the Robie Street Connector to Bayne Street
• an additional thru- lane from the Robie Street Connector to the Bedford Highway
• new traffic signals and associated work.

HRM urges motorists to exercise extreme caution when travelling in the construction zone or to choose an alternate travel route to avoid traffic delays.

HRM apologizes for any inconvenience.
