Sports Field to Be Re-Named in Memory of Outstanding Citizen

(Thursday, June 14/07)-- A special ceremony is planned in Sambro on Father’s Day this year to rename and dedicate the sports field there in memory of James McPhee.

Councillor Stephen Adams said that Mr. McPhee was instrumental in offering his time and money in helping to build the sports field for the community, which at the time was one of the best playing fields in Halifax Regional Municipality.

“It is only appropriate that we rename the field in Mr. McPhee’s honour on Father’s Day, because he was like a father to many,” the Councillor said. “There is no other person in that community more deserving of this distinction than James McPhee.”
