Traffic Delays Expected During Armdale Rotary Conversion

(Thursday, June 28/07)-- Motorists are advised that construction work beginning next week to convert the Armdale Rotary to a modern roundabout will result in traffic delays.

The project is scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 3 and is expected to be completed by September 14th, 2007.

The project includes new traffic controls, new overhead signs, reconstruction of asphalt and concrete roads, curb, sidewalk pavement markings, lighting, multi-use trail and associated work.

During the weekday peak hours of 7:00am to 9:00am and 4:00 pm to 6:00pm, two lanes of traffic will be maintained in the roundabout and on the peak-hour approach roads (St Margaret's Bay Road and Herring Cove Road during the morning peak period and Chebucto Road and Quinpool Road during the afternoon peak period.) During off-peak hours, the roundabout and approach roads may be reduced to one lane.

Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution when travelling in the construction zone and are encouraged to seek an alternate travel route, if possible, during the construction period.

HRM apologizes for any inconvenience.
