Two More Lakes Closed to Swimmers

(Wednesday, July 25/07) - Kinsman Beach, First Lake, Sackville, and Oakfield Beach, Grand Lake, are closed to swimmers due to water quality problems, effective immediately. These are in addition to Chocolate Lake, which was closed to swimmers Monday.

Regular testing performed by the Nova Scotia Department of the Environment at HRM’s supervised beaches showed high bacteria levels in the water in these lakes. “No Swimming” signs have been posted and Beach Program staff will remain on duty during regular hours to advise the public of the closure.

HRM thanks the public for its cooperation and apologizes for any inconvenience.

For further information on HRM Beach conditions, the public can call 490-5458.

For information regarding water quality issues, inquiries should be addressed to the Nova Scotia Department of the Environment.
