Kearney Lake Road Remains Closed - Water Main Repair Progressing

(August 9, 2007; 3:30pm) Halifax Regional Water Commission are advising that Kearney Lake Road, between Dunbrack St and Parkland Dr, will remain closed. Repairs to the broken water main have been made and backfilling of the excavation is underway.

It is anticipated that the repaired section of pipe will be back in service some time late this evening or overnight.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes for the drive home and to follow the posted detour signage.

Minor discolouration may be associated with putting the pipe back into service. The discolouration does not pose a health risk and we continue to monitor and test for quality assurance. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience. And we appreciate the continued cooperation and understanding from the public.
