Kearney Lake Road Remains Closed For Paving

(Friday, August 10, 2007; 7:00 am) Halifax Regional Water Commission are advising that Kearney Lake Road, between Dunbrack St and Parkland Dr, will remain closed for paving and restoration. Repairs to the broken water main are complete and the main will be back in service soon.

It is anticipated that the paving will take all of Friday to finish up the job.

"When we carefully evaluated the options of asking commuters to deal with delays and confusion that would result from partial closures against keeping the road closed to allow for a complete and final repair, we felt that overall, keeping the road closed another day would be the least confusing and disruptive to commuters and residents" said the Water Commission's Reid Campbell.

Some discolouration in the water may be associated with putting the pipe back into service and this should be of a short duration. The discolouration does not pose a health risk and we continue to monitor and test for quality assurance. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience. And we appreciate the continued cooperation and understanding from the public.
