Sewer/Water Project May Cause Traffic Delays

(Wednesday, August 15/07)-- Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays along Sackville Drive to the Lively Subdivision as the contractor begins pipe work this week for the new sewer and water project. For a short period there will also be disruption of traffic on Millwood Drive and Highrigger Crescent.

HRM and the Halifax Regional Water Commission (HRWC) are undertaking the project to connect existing Lively Subdivision customers to the municipal water and sewer systems and, as well, provide central servicing to some lands abutting Sackville Drive. The work is proposed to be completed by late 2007 or Spring 2008.

The scope of the project includes the extension of a water main from the Lucasville Road / Sackville Drive intersection area, along Sackville Drive to the Lively Subdivision. The sewer portion of the project includes the extension of a sanitary sewer from the Millwood area (i.e. Highrigger Crescent/Millwood Drive), along Sackville Drive to Lively Subdivision.

Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution when traveling in the construction zone and, if possible, to seek an alternate travel route until the project is completed.

HRM apologizes for any inconvenience.
