New Facility Turns Landfill Gas into Electricity

(Wednesday, October 10/07)-- A private sector facility that will collect and extract methane gas from the former Upper Sackville landfill site and convert it into electricity will be officially opened next Monday.

Representatives of all levels of governments and Highland Energy will be on hand for the ceremony. Invited guests and members of the media will be provided with tours of the facility following the opening ceremony.

When:  Monday, October 15, 2007

Time:    2:15 p.m.

Where: Take Highway 101 to exit 3 (Mount Uniacke.) Then head back towards Halifax and entrance to Highland Energy facility will be on the right.
