Downtown Halifax Road Construction

(Wednesday, October 24, 2007) - Motorists are advised that on-going Harbour Solutions Project on-street asphalt reinstatement is currently underway in the downtown area of Halifax.

The resurfacing activity is taking place on Hollis St. from Sackville St. to Morris St.; Morris St. from Hollis St. to Barrington St.; and Barrington St from Morris St to the intersection (east end) of Inglis St.

The expected duration of construction is 2 weeks.

During the resurfacing work, traffic may at times be reduced to1 lane stop and go traffic. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes, if possible.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.


Please note, all shops and services adjacent to the work zone will remain open during the construction period.


The hours of work will be Monday to Friday 7:00am to 6:00pm, with weekends as required.


Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption.
