HRM TO PARTICIPATE IN WHEELCHAIR SIMULATION
( Monday October 29/07)- Regional Councillors and staff will be participating in the 2nd annual Outdoor Wheelchair Simulation, sponsored by HRM’s Advisory Committee for Persons With Disabilities.
Councillors Patrick Murphy and Gary Meade, along with members of the Committee, will host the event , which will begin at City Hall and follow an established route along Duke Street and Argyle Street. Participants will be asked to negotiate streets and curb cuts with the aid of an assistant.
“ This will give HRM Council and staff an idea of the physical barriers faced by the environment in which a person with a disability lives, said Laughlin Rutt., HRM Diversity Consultant. “This is a creative way to bring attention to the accessibility issues in HRM.”
