Clarification - Concert Funds

(Wednesday, November 7, 2007) - As a follow-up to the scrum at City Hall this morning, I just wanted to make it clear that any HRM funds going towards a concert on the Commons will not be coming from property tax dollars. Under current guidelines, Council may approve up to $150,000 towards the cost of hosting a large concert here, but that money would come from the Special Events Reserve Fund, which is money derived from the Hotel or Bed Tax. In other words, visitors staying at hotels in HRM raise that money for us.
