Councillor Urges Parents to Speak Out About Schools' Future

(Tuesday, November 13/07)-- District 11 Councillor Patrick Murphy today urged parents in Halifax's north end to share their views and concerns about the future of schools in that area at a public meeting tomorrow evening.

The meeting is part of the public consultation process of the Halifax Regional School Board's "Imagine Our Schools" long-range planning process. The school board is looking for innovative ideas from schools, the communities they serve,  and the broader public as it determines how it can best meet the future educational needs of students.

Councillor Murphy said " The north end of Halifax has great schools, including St. Stephens, Ecole St. Joseph-A Mc Kay , Ecole St. Catherines and Highland Park Junior High. All of these educational centers are important to the community and to our future, so it is important for parents to participate in this process and share their thoughts with the School Board."

When:  Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Time:    6 p.m.

Where: Leeds Street Campus, Nova Scotia Community College
