Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency accept Donated Oxygen Masks to Save Household Pets

(Thursday, February 14, 2008) - Today, Mark Grant, of the Halifax Kennel Club and his St. Bernard, Hercules, met Chief Director Bill Mosher at a local fire station to donate eight sets of emergency oxygen masks designed for saving household pets.

The oxygen recovery masks can be used to provide oxygen to animals that are in respiratory distress.

"This is a first in Canada" said Linda Wozniak, Past President of the HKC and "we are proud to lead the way in providing emergency oxygen masks to the Fire Service to help save the lives of pets who have been involved in home fires and other traumatic experiences".

Over the next few years, the Club plans to continue its fund raising efforts to provide HRM with another 22 sets for a total of 30 sets of oxygen masks.
