Reminder - Ban On All Open Fires

(Friday, July 11, 2008) - Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency remind residents of HRM about the provincial ban on all open fires in Nova Scotia.

HRM's Open Air Burning By-Law 0-103, contains additional restrictions which apply once Natural Resources announces a ban. They include a ban on all outdoor wood burning appliances and camp fires.

Therefore, residents are reminded that there is a ban on outdoor wood burning appliances and camp fires during the provincial ban on open air burning.

The open fire ban is expected to remain in effect until mid-September, unless the province receives significant rain.

Please be advised that any permits that have been issued are no longer valid. For further information, please call Fire Prevention at 490-5546.
