Keith Urban Concert on the Common

(Wednesday, August 27, 2008) - HRM wishes to advise residents that there will be no street closures in connection with the Keith Urban concert on Saturday, August 30th. However, there will be some parking and sidewalk restrictions in areas directly adjacent to the Common. There will be no parking on the south side of Cunard Street and the west side of North Park Street until the morning of Tuesday, September 2nd and no parking on the north side of Cogswell Street from Friday, August 29th until the morning of Tuesday, September 2nd. At various times from Tuesday, August 26th to the morning of Tuesday, September 2nd, pedestrians will not have access to sidewalks immediately surrounding the North Common on Cunard, North Park, and Cogswell Streets. Please use sidewalks on the other side of these streets during these times. Signage will be put in place to indicate these closures.

HRM also urges everyone to consider taking Metro Transit to and from the Keith Urban Concert on the Common. Special shuttle services will be provided to give concert-goers transit options and decrease traffic congestion in the downtown. The concert shuttle service will begin Saturday, August 30, beginning at 12 p.m., providing 30-minute frequency service inbound from Portland Hills Terminal, South Centre Mall, Lacewood Terminal and Sackville Terminal until 8 p.m. Beginning at 10 p.m., shuttle service will reverse its routing and resume from the same concert shuttle staging areas on a "load and go" basis until 1:30 a.m. Special shuttle fares will be $2 cash each way. No regular Metro Transit passes or transfers will be accepted or issued on these shuttles. Additional Alderney ferry service will also be provided, with an extra ferry beginning at 10 a.m. and providing 15 minute frequency until the last departure from Halifax at 12:45 a.m. More detailed transit service information can be found at ; in "GoTimes' newsletters on the transit system & at transit retail outlets; or by calling 490-4000.
