Candidates Reminded About Placement of Signs
(Friday, September 12, 2008)-- Candidates in the upcoming federal and municipal elections are reminded that campaign signs should be restricted to private property (with the permission of the property owner) and should not be installed within the municipal street right-of-way.
Signs must not obstruct the view of traffic at intersections and driveways. Also, signs must not be installed on utility poles or municipal trees. All federal election signs should be removed within one week following the federal election on October 14, 2008. All municipal election signs should be removed within one week following the municipal election on October 18, 2008.
Adherence to these guidelines should preclude any problems; however, pleased be advised that any signs posing a safety hazard will be removed by HRM at the cost of the candidate.
For further information, candidates/agents are asked to contact HRM Right-of-Way Services at 490-6240.
