Grand Opening of the Gordon R. Snow Community Centre/Fire Station 45
(Wednesday, October 1, 2008) - The grand opening of the Gordon R. Snow Community Centre and Fire Station 45 will take place on Saturday, October 4th.
Come celebrate the new Community Centre and Fire Station 45. Enjoy facility tours, activities, games, face painting, music, refreshments and more! MC for the event will be Peter Harrison from C100. Speeches are scheduled to get underway by 2:10 pm. Remarks will be given by Mayor Peter Kelly; the Honourable Len Goucher, Minister of Immigration; District 2 Councillor Krista Snow; HRM Community Development - Paul Dunphy (Director); HRM Fire Services - Bill Mosher (Chief Director); MLA Percy Paris (in his capacity as a descendant of the Ash family - in conjunction with the archaeological artifacts that were found on site); District 2 Facility Advisory Committee - Cheryl Newcombe.
There will be an official ribbon cutting, cake cutting and plaque unveiling. As well there will be self-guided facility tours and demonstrations within the Community Centre:

ARTSPA will have an Art Show throughout the facility. There will be preschool activities - face painting and "Razzmatazz for Kids" as well as child/youth activities delivered by D2Y action Team (District 2 youth). The Lockview High School Chamber Musicians will also perform.
