PARTICIPATION RESULTS – HRM'S FIRST EVER E-VOTING POLL

(Tuesday October 7/08) - 28,709 voters cast their ballots in the advanced e-voting polls representing 10.28% of eligible voters in the 2008 Municipal and School Board Elections.
86% voted on the internet
14% voted by phone

In 2004, 15,708 voters voted in the advance polls, just over 6% of eligible voters.

There is a story behind every vote. E-voters cast their ballots from over 30 countries, from over 50 Canadian towns and cities, from 28 states and from every university in Atlantic Canada. The oldest e-voter the vote centre talked to was born in 1913. He cast his ballot on Sunday. Some voters jumped on their I-phones and others used their cell phone or blackberry. Some voted from the cottage, others from a neighbour's phone. Each voter made the effort to make their vote count.

Make your vote count! In person Advance Polls open Saturday, October 11, 2008 noon to 8:00pm and Tuesday October 14, 2008 noon to 8:00pm. Election Day for the HRM Municipal and School Board election is Saturday October 18, 2008 8:00am to 7:00pm.
