Shubie Pumpkin Patch and Opening of Canal Walking Tour This Weekend

(Friday, October 10, 2008) - The annual Shubie Pumpkin Patch event will take place at Shubie Park tomorrow, Saturday, October 11, from 11am until 2pm. This free event includes pumpkin carving and decorating, marshmallow roasting on a camp fire, face painting, hot chocolate, and hot dogs. All are welcome to attend.

The event is being put on by HRM in cooperation with the Port Wallis Scout Troop and the Shubenacadie Canal Commission.

This year's event will also include the official opening of the Shubenacadie Canal Heritage Walking Trail at 12 noon. This trail includes 17 newly installed interpretative panels which tell the story of the Shubenacadie Canal in the area of Shubie Park. The Shubenacadie Canal is a National Engineering Historic Site.
