Community Paper Shred Event
(Wednesday, October 22, 2008) Here is your opportunity to dispose of your personal documents in a secure and environmentally responsible manner. On Saturday, October 25, 2008, there will be a free mobile shredding event held at the Nova Scotia Community College, Waterfront Campus in Dartmouth as part of Waste Reduction Week. An Iron Mountain mobile shredding truck will be on site to shred documents and all paper will be recycled to ensure highest levels of security.
Members of the Halifax Regional Police and Iron Mountain staff will be on hand to answer your questions on how to reduce the risk of personal fraud crimes, including identity theft. HRM Solid Waste Resources staff will also be available to answer questions about recycling.
Placing recyclable paper in a garbage bag is not a secure or acceptable way to manage your personal information and a garbage bag is not recycling. Separating and shredding your personal papers for recycling is the recommended best management practice whether at home or work . Shredded paper can be placed with all other paper, separated for recycling collection and placed in a clear bag.
To ensure that as many residents as possible can participate, there will be a limit of three (3) file boxes per household.
