Halifax Regional Municipality Holds Swearing In Ceremony for New Council

(Monday, November 3, 2008)-- Mayor Peter Kelly and Members of Halifax Regional Council will be officially sworn-in at a ceremony on Tuesday, November 4th, at the Bella Rose Arts Centre, Halifax West High School.

There are a small number of reserved seats available for members of the media covering the session and a media staging area has been designated for photographers and video camera persons.

Doors to the theatre will be open to the public, beginning at 5:15 pm. Members of the media are asked to be in place no later than 5:30 pm. Your co-operation would be much
appreciated.

An Honour Guard, consisting of representatives of the RCMP, the Halifax Regional Police and the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service, will participate in the ceremony.

Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Mr. Dan English, Chief Administrative Officer for Halifax Regional Municipality.

The Honourable Alanna Murphy will officially swear-in Mayor Kelly and Members of Halifax Regional Council.
