Reminder: Winter Parking Ban

(Wednesday, December 31, 2008) HRM wishes to remind citizens of the Winter Overnight Parking Ban that is in effect until March 30, 2009 which prohibits vehicles from being parked on streets from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. daily.

With the impending snowfall forecast for later today, HRM would also like to remind citizens that, in addition to the overnight winter parking restrictions, all vehicle owners in Nova Scotia are subject to Section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act, which states that a vehicle may not be left on a street or road in such a manner that it might interfere with, or obstruct, snow removal or winter maintenance (salting) operations.

Having streets free and clear of parked vehicles during snow storms makes for safe, efficient and cost-effective snow removal operations and facilitates better mobility by emergency response agencies.

The cooperation of motorists is appreciated.
