Halifax MP and MLA Join HRM Councillors in Supporting Girls Soar Physical Activity Week

(Tuesday, February 17, 2009) - Halifax Regional Municipality Councillors Barry Dalrymple, Lorelei Nicoll, Gloria McCluskey, Sue Uteck, Jennifer Watts, Debbie Hum and Linda Mosher were joined by Halifax MLA Diana Whalen and Halifax MP Megan Leslie in kicking off Girls Soar Physical Activity Week 2009(February 16-20) and participated in a little Hip-Hop Dancing to celebrate the occasion.

Girls Soar Physical Activity Week is an initiative designed to increase the physical activity rates of girls between the ages of 9 and 18. With support from local businesses and stakeholders, a variety of physically active programs are offered to girls in this age group free of charge for the entire week throughout HRM.

Girls Soar Physical Activity Week is funded by Nova Scotia Health Promotion and Protection and supported by Active Halifax Communities, the Halifax Regional School Board, the Halifax YWCA and the Halifax Regional Municipality who all work to offer programs during the week.
