HRM Sport Fields Remain Closed for the Season

(Thursday, April 2, 2009) Halifax Regional Municipality would like to advise the general public that all outdoor grass fields, including ball diamonds and sport fields, remain closed for the season. Official opening dates for grass fields have not yet been set.

Using these fields can cause damage to the surface and, as our maintenance crews are not working on the fields as yet, fields that are not being maintained can pose a danger to users. Any damages caused to turf as a result of unscheduled use could in fact delay field openings and season start up.

The use of HRM facilities without the appropriate authorization or when fields are closed will result in fines and possible loss of future scheduling privileges.
