Terence Bay Volunteer Fire Fighter Recruitment Drive -
Saturday, May 2, 2009 - 10-2 p.m.

(Monday, April 27, 2009) - Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency advises residents of the Terence Bay area that there will be an open house and volunteer fire fighter recruitment drive on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 80 Sandy Cove Road, Terence Bay.

Becoming a volunteer fire fighter means being part of a team that fights fires, saves lives, conducts rescues, assists with fire prevention, administers first aid, and helps the community. The Fire service is dedicated to saving lives and protecting property through fire prevention, suppression and public education.

Qualifications to become a volunteer fire fighter include: living within the district, physically fit, available for training once per week, grade 12 or equivalent, a clean criminal record, and a driver’s abstract demonstrating safe driving habits.

Benefits to volunteers include learning new skills, serving your community, self satisfaction, and future career opportunities. The fire service provides uniforms, protective equipment and free training.

Firefighting is one of the most rewarding professions in the community. If you believe you have what it takes to meet the challenges of our business, we invite you to join us on May 2nd.
