Media opportunity to tour the Halifax Wastewater Treatment Facility

(Thursday, July 16, 2009) - Members of the media are invited to join Mayor Peter Kelly and Halifax Regional Water Commission General Manager Carl Yates in a tour of the Halifax Wastewater Treatment Facility on Friday, July 17.

During the tour, journalists will be able to see the damage to the plant from the January 14 flood that resulted in the plant’s malfunction. Safety gear will be required for anyone who wants to attend. Hard hats will be provided but participants must provide their own steel-toed shoes. Anyone who does not have protective footwear will not be permitted on the tour.

A brief safety talk will be given prior to the tour, so please arrive on time.

Location:   Meet inside the front entry of the Halifax WWTF on Upper Water Street.
