Birch Cove Park & Beach Remain Closed

(Friday, July 24, 2009) - Please note that continuing site improvements and the 2009 ICF Sprint Canoe World Championships will affect public access to Birch Cove Park & Beach on Lake Banook. In the interest of public safety, security guards will restrict public access to the site which remains a construction zone. It is anticipated the site will be reopened to the public on or around August 19th, 2009 once the athletes move out and the accommodation tents are removed.

For the benefit of beach users, supervised swimming can be found nearby at Shubie Park and Penhorn Beach. For additional information and maps to the supervised swimming sites in HRM visit www.halifax.ca/rec/beaches.html.
