HRM Hosts National Safe Communities Canada Day - October 7th
(Tuesday, September 29, 2009) - Halifax Regional Municipality’s Safe Communities Network will host National Safe Communities Canada Day on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at noon at the Grand Parade. This year’s theme is “Be Visible”and HRM Safe Communities is challenging all of its citizens to “Be Visible” in the fight to reduce the risk of injury and promote a safe and healthy lifestyle.
Various organizations will be present including Halifax Regional Police, Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency, Canadian Red Cross, Child Safety Link, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, HRM Preventing Falls Together Coalition, Capital Health and many more.
Mayor Kelly will be present proclaiming National Safe Communities Canada Day, and Paul Kells, President of Safe Communities Canada will be present along with Conrad Sauve, Secretary General & CEO Canadian Red Cross to launch the “Be Visible, Be Certified” program.
Forty-seven (47) designated members of the national network of Canadian Safe Communities will also celebrate Safe Communities Canada Day. Safe Communities HRM is one of Canada’s foremost community-driven injury prevention charities whose mission is to make our nation the safest place in the world to live, learn, work and play.
