Halifax Regional Council Elects New Deputy Mayor

(November 13/09) - Halifax Regional Council elected Councillor Brad Johns as the new Deputy Mayor during Tuesday night’s council session.

Deputy Mayor Johns replaces Councillor David Hendsbee who has held the position since November, 2008.

Brad Johns was elected Councillor for the Halifax Regional Municipality District 19 in November 2000. As a lifelong resident of Sackville, he has been very active within a number of community organizations including the Sackville Freemasons, Scouts Canada and the Sackville Kinsmen. He was educated at Mount Saint Vincent University and, prior to his election, was employed as a Librarian/Computer Technician with the Halifax Regional School Board. Councillor Johns serves on a variety of boards and committees and also owns and operates Bee Jay Audio.

The Deputy Mayor is elected annually by vote of Halifax Regional Council.
