High Tech - Low Impact Construction Gets Underway Today
(Friday, December 4, 2009) – Later this morning crews contracted by Halifax Water will get to work on a deteriorated section of sewer line using the latest in trenchless technology.
Insituform Technologies Limited will be lining a section of sewer line on Milsom Street.,between Downs and DoullAvenues in Halifax.
This method of construction eliminates the need for traditional excavation and the associated impacts to property and infrastructure. Savings between trenchless/cured in place liner technology and regular construction, depending on the application and location of the pipe, can be up to one fifth the cost of conventional construction techniques.
Time savings can be up to one tenth the time it takes to excavate and replace a sewer using traditional excavation methods.
The work will get underway around 10am and best visuals will be available around this time.
Halifax Water and Insituform Technologies staff will be available to provide background information and interviews on site.
