Burning Ban in HRM

(Tuesday, March 16, 2010) - Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency has responded to over 65 grass and brush fires since March 1st. The recent warm weather and lack of precipitation has resulted in extremely dry surface fuels. As a result, there will be an immediate ban on all open air fires. Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources have been advised.

Outdoor wood burning appliances which are completely enclosed and have a spark arrester screen (grill) are currently exempt from this burning ban.
