Road Construction/Blasting - Washmill Lake Drive Extension, Phase I
(Friday, April 9, 2010) - On Monday, April 12, 2010, during the hours of 6:00 am to 3:00 pm and continuing for approximately two weeks, road construction will begin on Highway 102 between Exit 1A (Exit to Highway 103 and Exit 2A (Exit to Lacewood). This work will take place in the Northbound/Bedford Bound lanes and will result in lane reductions. The motoring public should be aware that there will also be speed reductions during this work.
Motorists should expect delays and are requested to find alternate routes. HRM apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this delay may cause.
As well, residents, business owners and property owners are to be informed that blasting operations are required to complete rock excavation at Washmill Lake Court extension, on the east side of Hwy 102 opposite Bayers Lake Business Park. Rockwork Construction Ltd. has obtained a permit to carry out the blasting. Blasting will start on or about April 12/10 for approximately 6 weeks. Operations can take place Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm. No blasting will take place on weekends or statutory holidays.
All requirements outlined in the blasting by-law have been met in order to have a permit issued for this project. Seismographs will be set up on structures in the area to monitor vibration and sound levels to ensure they do not exceed allowable limits set out in HRM’s blasting by-law.
For further information re the blasting, residents may contact Kevin MacDonald, HRM Engineering Technician, at 490-4653.
